OUR FOUNDER

MEET JOSH SWINNEY

My Journey

Facing personal health challenges, including Bell’s Palsy and a venomous snake bite, changed how I viewed health. I learned that health isn’t black and white, nor is it about perfection. It’s about how well we adapt to the physical, chemical and mental demands of life.

Supporting my resilience through a neuromusculoskeletal lens became central to how I approached my own health, and is now the foundation of how I care for others.

Our Philosophy on Health

We take a proactive and holistic approach to health, grounded in the belief that true wellbeing comes from within. When properly supported, your body has an incredible ability to adapt, heal, and recover.

Why This Practice Exists

Too often, healthcare focuses on masking symptoms leaving people feel rushed, unseen, and disconnected from how our bodies are designed to heal. I built this practice to offer sustainable health solutions in a space where looking after yourself feels good and easy.

FAQ's

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes. Chiropractic care is safe when it’s tailored to the individual and delivered by a qualified professional. During your initial consultation, we carefully assess for any potential contraindications and design your care accordingly. Your safety and comfort are always our priority.

Does chiropractic treatment hurt?

No, a Chiropractic adjustment should not be painful at all. Techniques are always adapted to your body and preferences, and nothing is done without your consent. Some mild soreness can occasionally occur, similar to after exercise, but this usually settles quickly.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you’re very welcome to bring someone with you if it helps you feel more comfortable. We can also provide a professional chaperone upon request.

What is the cracking noise?

The cracking sound is caused by a small release of gas within the joint as it moves, similar to cracking your knuckles. Some adjustments are completely quiet, and the sound itself isn’t linked to the effectiveness of treatment.

Do I need to remove any clothing for my appointment?

No, for routine adjustments you will not need to remove clothing apart from coats, belts and shoes. However it may be more comfortable to be in loose fitting clothes. For your Initial Consultation, tighter, gym type clothing is ideal to help with the accuracy of the posture assessment. If any adjustment to clothing is needed to examine an area, this will always be discussed with you first and handled respectfully.

Do I need an X-ray or MRI?

This is assessed on a case-by-case basis but routinely most of the people that come to see us do not require either to start care. If imaging is ever appropriate, we will discuss this with you and refer you to the relevant specialist.

Are chiropractors real doctors?

Chiropractors hold an honourary Doctor of Chiropractic title. They gain this through a minimum of 4 years University Masters education.

How long does it take to get better?

Recovery times vary from person to person and depend on factors such as your symptoms, health history, and lifestyle. Some people notice changes quickly, while others require longer-term care. We’ll discuss realistic expectations with you and tailor your plan accordingly.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you don’t need a referral to book an appointment. You can contact us directly and arrange your consultation at a time that suits you. However, we’ll work alongside healthcare professionals if required and beneficial to your circumstances.

Will my insurance cover care?

Some health insurance providers do cover chiropractic care, but this varies by policy. We recommend checking directly with your insurer to confirm your level of cover. If needed, we’re happy to provide receipts and documentation to support your claim.

Can I have chiropractic care after spinal surgery?

Yes, in many cases, chiropractic care is still appropriate after spinal surgery. We always avoid surgically modified areas and carry out a thorough assessment before beginning care. If surgery has led to compensation or strain in other areas of the spine, these may become the focus of your care.
